Cute Totoro
  • have lots of different mini-games
  • be for all ages
  • have multiple play experiences

My Neighbor Totoro: The Game will be an assortment of mini-games much like Mario Party of Wario Wares, and it will be on both the Nintendo DS and the Wii -- both of which are very family and kids oriented gaming systems. There will be ten games in total, but you will only start with three. The rest will be required through making the appropriate progress through the first three games. In addition to unlocking more of the stages, working your way through as many of the levels as possible will open different modes of play as well as bonus items that include photos of various scenes of the movie that will automatically be inserted into a scrapbook, music clips, and trophies shaped like each of the main and supporting characters.

Mini-Game Options:

Catbus

Cat Bus Sky Adventure: You will be in charge of moving cat bus through the sky by blowing into the microphone on the DS, or by waving the Wii controller and nunchuk as if his feet were galloping through the air. The aim of the game is to get from the start position to the end goal as fast as possible within the time limit while also moving the directional buttons to guide your avatar out of the way of various obstacles including wayward umbrellas and clouds and a small kitten bus. There will be four levels within this game, and each one becomes increasingly difficult, but if you pass them all then you win.

Soot Sprite

Find the Soot Sprite: Within My Neighbor Totoro the soot sprites are balls of dust and ash that hide in the crevices of Mei and Satsuki's house, and are very quick to run around before the two girls can catch and trap them. In this mini-game option you will use either your stylus or controller to tap on a sprite as soon as they come out of hiding before they're gone again. There will be a set number with each level, and the amount of sprites will increase, along with the speed in which they surface then disappear again. Your goal is to find as many as possible in the allotted time.

grow

Grow, Totoro, Grow!: Mei and Satsuki have planted a bunch of seeds, but are imaptient, and want to see the end result of the efforts much sooner than it will take for the seedlings to actually grow. That's where Totoro comes in and shows them that giving the plants just a little bit of encouragement is all it takes for them to become big and tall. In this game the player uses the mic and the voice recognition to egg on the sown seeds with key words such as "Grow!" or "You can do it!" How much the plants blossom depends on your enthusiasm, but you have to make sure that they can hear you.
